Importing step files with PMI
Andrew Harbron
STEP ap242 files now contain PMI (Product manufacturing information) as well as geometry of CAD models.
This includes stuff like datums, GD&T callouts, etc and looks like this:

It would be good if the functionality for importing and displaying this information could be added to Eyeshot

Agree. Same PMI related functionality for both AP242 and JT Open file formats and BIM format. At least the ability to read PMI data with references to the related geometry objects.
Kind regards,

Reading, writing (generating) and displaying PMI information would expand the application possibilities of Eyeshot incredibly.
Are there any plans or activities for this?
An update on this - I've seen that eyeshot 2020 now loads in the entities used to display the PMI, as below:
This is a step in the right direction, but it's not quite usable at this point:
Hi Andrew,
In fact, this is an export option of the original CAD system, not something we have changed on the Eyeshot side. Sorry.
Hi Alberto, thanks for the response - no problem, I just thought it was interesting to see. Weird that I never saw this in eyeshot 12 in that case!
Hi Alberto,
Since more and more needs for PMI arise, especially for the measuring application. We hope support for APA242 and PMI can be put on the roadmap of eyeshot's future functions. Thanks!
that is good,
from our perspective, if it is available to display, read and download such PMI out from a .stp file, that will be very helpful and valuable.
Coming back to the question previously posted:
"Reading, writing (generating) and displaying PMI information would expand the application possibilities of Eyeshot incredibly.

Is this somewhere present on the roadmap? The info is displayed ( as LinearPath ), but nowhere readable. If this can be added would be a great step forward.
Agreed.
PMI would be a wonderful feature of Eyeshot when exchangeing between CAD/CAE/CAM systems.
Wish it can be planned in the roadmap!

has this feature been developed? waiting...
Thanks a lot!
We too have needs for support of AP242!
We also need the PMI feature for our project.
